About the Parade:
The Alamo Area Council was requested to carry the street-sized Texas flag near the beginning of San Antonio's Battle of Flowers parade. This will require several Scouts to keep the flag stretched across the two-lane street for the duration of the parade route. In the past, a few Scouts have walked behind the flag and switched out to take over for others who might need a break. Parents are invited to participate with their Scout.
Age Requirements:
Participating Scouts must be 12 years of age or older per the rules set forth by the Battle of Flowers Parade Committee. Younger children and non-registered Scouts will not be permitted to walk with the group and must join other spectators. Unit leadership are welcome and encouraged to attend / walk with the parade.
Registration Information: If a scout is attending without a parent they MUST register with their unit - units will be required to provide 2 deep leadership and have a group contact manage all registrations. If a parent or adult is attending with their scout and the unit is not attending, you may register as individuals. No youth will be allowed to participate without an adult participating with them, either individually or the 2 deep leadership from the unit.
Uniform:
Since Scouts will be representing Scouting America to the citizens and guests of San Antonio, all participants are expected to present in full Field uniform. The parade will be conducted outside rain or shine, so be prepared for weather.
