Must have 100 participants registered by 8/25/2026 - you are allowed to purchase slots, but all names must be entered by 9/13/2026 for registration checks.
This event is for Ships, Troops, and Crews to spend the weekend out at Bear Creek Scout Camp-- enjoying the scenery, fellowship with fellow Scouting America members, and an open shoot. This is a very laid back event where units get to do their own thing but we will have the ranges open on Saturday for as much Range and Target Activities as your unit is interested in participating in.
We are looking for volunteers to help staff this event (NRA Rifle, Shotgun and Pistol instructors, NRA RSOs, USA Archery Instructors). Please reach out to RATA@alamoareascouting.org to volunteer to help make this event awesome. Volunteers must be approved before registering - If you are a volunteer for this event you will attend at no cost and you may have a scout from your unit attend for FREE. (note, we have to add these free scout spots on our end so it needs to be coordinated with RATA@alamoareascouting.org). **If you are a registered NRA instructor or RSO, and you would like to volunteer for a period of time to work the ranges (doesn't have to be all day, half a day is fine), please register as approved staff and send your certificates to RATA@alamoareascouting.org**
THIS IS NOT AN INDIVIDUAL EVENT, THIS EVENT IS DESIGNED FOR UNITS TO ATTEND. Units will provide their own supervision, food, and any program for the weekend outside of the open ranges. Troops must camp according to the Guide to Safe Scouting. Unit Leadership will be required to supervise the scouts in attendance, meeting all 2 deep leadership requirements and additional ratios required. Please follow this excerpt from the Barriers to Abuse in the Guide to Safe Scouting for what is required:
Two registered adult leaders 21 years of age or over are required at all Scouting activities, including all meetings. There must be a registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over in every unit serving females. A registered female adult leader 21 years of age or over must be present for any activity involving female youth or female adult program participants.
Not with standing the minimum leader requirements, age and program-appropriate supervision must always be provided.
We are working diligently to provide a fun filled, safe, and exciting day for all, hope to see you there!
